There are many ways to help. Your donations help buy books and materials, support new technology, provide exciting programs and so much more. Here's how you can give to the Library:
Make a Donation
Donations to the Houston Public Library Foundation are tax-deductible. You may make your contribution online or by mail. Please contact the Foundation at 832-393-1387 or by email to email@example.com.

Donate Books & More
Donate your new and used books, CDs, and other materials for the Friends of the Houston Public Library's Annual Bargain Book Sale. Proceeds from this sale benefit the Houston Public Library. Book donations are accepted at all library locations. Most items donated include hardback and paperback books, CDs and DVDs in good condition. VHS, audio cassettes, vinyl records and newspapers are not accepted. Large donations (more than 1 box or 2 bags) may be dropped off at the Friends warehouse. Call the Friends at 832-393-1387 or visit the Friends of the Houston Public Library website for details.
Ongoing book sales at most HPL locations also accepts donations. Proceeds from these sales benefit the library. Do keep in mind that most donated items are used in our book sales and not necessarily added to the library's collection. It is best to check with your local library.
iGive.com or Buy for Charity help the Library when you shop online and it won't cost you a penny! (Well, almost.) Just sign up and choose Houston Public Library as your charity, shop until you drop, and participating merchants will donate a percentage of your purchases to the Library. Membership is free.
Grants, Major Gifts And Naming Opportunities
We are interested in grants and major gifts from foundations, corporations, organizations, and individuals to purchase books and materials, update computers and technology, and provide educational programs.
With new libraries being constructed and others undergoing major remodeling, a variety of naming opportunities are available for donors. These range from the naming of facilities to the naming of meeting rooms and study areas.
Please contact us at 832-393-1313 or by email.
